Acids are substances that dissociate into H+ ions when you dissolve them in water. ... Saltsfor eg neutral ionic salts like Sodium chloride for instance are neutral and their pH range is around 7, equal concentration of H+ ions and OH- ions. They are neutral because their chemical formula (charges) balance.
