Agro-based industry


Uses plant and animal products as raw materials

Source of employment for people in rural areas

Example: Dairy industry, cotton textile industry


Mineral-based industry

Uses mineral ores as raw materials

Source of employment for people in rural as well as urban areas

Example: Iron and steel industry, heavy machinery industry

•The industries where raw material is any mineral such as iron Ore, aluminum r mineral based industries. These r capital intensive units as it involves large investment Eg steel manufacturing etc
• Agro based includes food processing industries Eg .making tomato sauce , or any fruit juice .... etc
•Mineral based industries use mineral as raw material while agro based industries use plant or animal product as raw material.
