What is the difference between altitude and median ?

altitude is perpendicular to the side while median divides the side into 2 equal parts irrespective of the angle formed

altitude is perpendicular to the base on which it is drawn and not necessarily bisects the base while a median is drawn from the vertex of a triangle to the opposite side and it bisects the base .
