umeshamainali1: Actually altitude is a line which is perpendicular from a vertex to the opposite side of the vertex of the given triangle....and median is a line which divides a side in two equal halves from it's opposite vertex and the area formed due to the median are always equal....altitude and height are like common terms...
Anjeelina: hmm

the median is defined as the segment that joins any vertex with a midpoint of the side opposite. the vertex because a triangle has three vertices then it has three medians. ... if it is an isosceles triangle two sides are equal. then two of the medians are equal the altitude on the other hand is the perpendicular distance

or another ans.. is

As a general definition, altitude is a distance measurement, usually in the vertical or "up" direction, between a reference datum and a point or object. ... Although the term altitude is commonly used to mean the height above sea level of a location, in geography the term elevation is often preferred for this usage.

Height is the measure of vertical distance, either how "tall" something or someone is, or how "high" the position is. For example, "The height of that building is 50 m" or "The height of an airplane is about 10,000 m". ... If both points happen to have the same y-value, then their relative height equals to zero.

In geometry, a median of a triangle is a line segment joining a vertex to the midpoint of the opposing side, bisecting it. Every triangle has exactly three medians, one from each vertex, and they all intersect each other at the triangle's centroid.
