Alveoli and nephron serve as both structural and functional units in two distinct systems. Alveoli can be found in the lungs while nephron is found in the kidney. The main difference between alveoli and nephron is that alveoli occur in the respiratory system whereas nephron occurs in the excretory system

Difference between alveoli and nephrons are following -:

Alveoli

(1)Alveoli are tiny ballon like structure present inside the lungs.

(2)The walls of the alveoli are thick and it contains an extensive network of blood capillaries.

(3)Its function is exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide take place between the blood of capillaries that surround the alveoli and the gases present in the alveoli.

(4)It is a site of gaseous exchange.

(1)Nephrons are tiny tubular structure present the kidneys.

(2)Nephrons are made of glomerulus, Bowman's capsule, and renal tube. It contains a cluster of thin walled capillaries.

(3)The blood enters the kidneys through the renal artery which branches into many capillaries in the glomerulus. The water and solute are transferred to the nephron at bowmans capsule. then filtrate moves through the proximal tubule and then down into the loop

of henle.

(4)It is a site of filtration.
