What is the difference between Amber and jade ??

Amber is a fossilized tree resin. It has been admired for its natural beauty and colour since Neolithic times. It is a gemstone which is used to make a variety of decorative objects. It is used in jewellery. It is resinous. It is an amorphous solid. It has a hardness of 2 - 2.5 on Mohs hardness scale. There are opaque and transparent varieties.

While jade is an ornamental metamorphic rock. It is made of two different minerals Jadeite and Nephrite. It is vitreous and waxy. It has a monoclinic crystal system. It has a hardness of 6 - 7 on the Mohs hardness scale. There are translucent and opaque varieties.

Amber is actually the fossilized tree resins  which is generally not considered a true gemstone. Yet these are used as jewelry because of their popularity and beautification . They are quite an expensive one. It is usually available in different colors.

While as regard to jade,  it is a beautiful metamorphic rock known for it's aesthetic value . There popular color is green . Jade is actually made from the combination  of different minerals like the jadeite as well as nephrite.
