Anion is the negative ion, ie having a negative charge. This ion has more number of electrons and less number of protons.
Cation is the positive ion, ie having a positive charge. This ion has less number of electrons and more number of protons.
Ion is an atom with imbalance between protons and electrons, hence giving it a resultant charge, either positive or negative
