The hydraulic structure in which irrigation canal is passing over the drainage, but the drainage water cannot pass clearly below the canal is known as siphon aqueduct. If two canals cross other and one of the canals issiphoned under the other, then the hydraulic structure at crossing is called canalsiphon.

The difference between aqueducts and siphon aqueducts are given below:
Aqueducts:
- Aqueduct is an artificial waterway or channel constructed to conduct water from one location to another.
- This is usually a distribution system where water is transported from a source too far away distribution points.
- Pipes, canals, tunnels, ditches are all different types of aqueduct.
Siphon aqueducts:
- In a siphon aqueduct system a canal is constructed over a drainage.
- The high flood level of the drain is higher than the water bed of the canal.
- In this case, under the absence of atmospheric pressure, water slows under a siphon action. This is known as siphon aqueduct.
