  • The archaeological sources include material things like artifacts, buildings, inscriptions, coins etc while as literary sources include written literature in the form of books, biographies etc. Archaeological sources cover more than 99% of history of mankind while as literary sources less than 1%.

Archaeological Sources- These sources provide no written records. Historians depend on archaeological evidence such as the remains of monuments or ancient buildings,coins,pottery, tool paintings and images etc.

Literary sources- Literary sources provides written records not on paper but found on various objects like dried sheep or goat skin, copper,pillars and stones but later on paper.
