Regeneration is the process where individual parts of an organism’s body have the capability to develop into a new individual. This process can be seen in many invertebrates such as Planaria, Hydra, Starfish etc (Lizard has the capability to regenerate its lost tail )................... Autotomy or self amputation is the behaviour whereby an animal sheds or discards one or more of its own appendages, usually as a self-defense mechanism to elude a predator's grasp or to distract the predator and thereby allow escape. The lost body part may be regenerated later.
