average speed is the ratio of the total distance travelled by a body to the total time taken to complete the journey.
eg:- if a body covers 10km in 2 hours then its average speed is 10÷2 which is equal to 5 then the average speed = 5km\h

if the velocity of a body moving in a particular direction (vector quantity) changes with time the ratio of displacement to the time taken in the complete journey is its average velocity.
eg:- if the displacement of a body is 6km and total time taken is 3 hours then the average velocity = 6÷3 which is equal to 2.
so the average velocity= 2 km\h
