what is the difference between baking soda anf baking powder

baking soda is used  to make a cake rise, while the baking powder  allows the cake to fall flat of expectations.

baking soda is a single compound:sodiumhygrogencarbonate and baking powder is a mixture of sodium hydrogencarbonate and a solid,edible acid.

himanshi70: we can not use baking soda as a raising agent it gives a bitter taste.
