The difference between bean seed and maize grain is-

  • Seeds are dicotyledonous in beans whereas monocotyledonous in maize.it means maize has one cotyledon and beans have two.
  • Monocotyledonous seeds are generally endospermic. so, maize is endospermic while bean seeds are non-endospermic.
  • In maize, fruit encloses the seed whereas in beans seed is intertwined with the fruit wall.
  • Seed in maize is of legume type whereas bean seed is known as a caryopsis.
  • Maize is a Kharif crop whereas beans are a rabi crop.
  • Kharif crops include millet. for example- rice, sorghum, bajra, and soyabean.
