The difference between bean seed and maize grain is-
- Seeds are dicotyledonous in beans whereas monocotyledonous in maize.it means maize has one cotyledon and beans have two.
- Monocotyledonous seeds are generally endospermic. so, maize is endospermic while bean seeds are non-endospermic.
- In maize, fruit encloses the seed whereas in beans seed is intertwined with the fruit wall.
- Seed in maize is of legume type whereas bean seed is known as a caryopsis.
- Maize is a Kharif crop whereas beans are a rabi crop.
- Kharif crops include millet. for example- rice, sorghum, bajra, and soyabean.
