What is the difference between breathing and respiration? And where does it take place.

Breathing involves inhale of oxygen from the atmosphere into the lungs and exhale of carbon dioxide from the lungs into the atmosphere ; whereas cellular respirationinvolves breakdown of glucose into carbon dioxide and water in living cells, releasing energy.

inhalation of oxygen and exhalation of carbon dioxide is called breathing

RESPIRATION

breakdown of glucose in the presence or absence of oxygen is called respiration

RESPIRATION HAS 2 TYPES

aerobic respiration =>

breakdown of glucose in the presence of oxygen

Anaerobic respiration =>

breakdown of glucose in the absence of oxygen
