The basic difference between a money plant and a cactus is in the region which they are grown in, cactus grow in deserts or hot area while the money plant grows in a cool area such as terrestrial land.

Cactus has a very deep root system, while money plant has the root system same as that of herb.

Cactus plant grows in extremely heated and dry conditions while money plant grow in terrestrial area where the temp is normal and it has water content around it. Since the cactus grow in extreme heat condition it has a extremely developed root system to support it. On the other hand money plant doesn't have a such root system around the base of the plant.
