Calcination--It is the process in which the carbonate Ore is heated in the absence of air below its fusion temperature is known as the calcination.

Eg:- CaCo3------Cao+co2

Roasting--sulphide Ore is heated in the presence of air below its fusion temperature.

Eg:-ZnS+O2-----ZnO+SO2

zinc sulphide is an sulphide ore so so it's extraction is done by step wise method:-

Step:-1-first zinc sulphide is heated in the presence of air known as roasting to remove the the sulphur from it.

  • ZnS+O2---ZnO+SO2

Step:-2- zinc is the metal of medium reactivity so it is easily reduced by the use of coke.

  • ZnO+C---Zn+Co

Step:-3-now zinc is purified or electrolyte to remove the impurities present in Ore.

Hope it helps bro..
