Following are the difference between CAM plants and C₃ plants :

  1. C₃ plants have 2000-31000 number of stomata while CAM plants only have 100-800 number of stomata.
  2. The stomata of C₃ plants are open during day time while the stomata of CAM plants opens during night time .
  3. The structure of leaf of C₃ plants contains the bundle sheath cells lacking chloroplasts while, structure of leaf of CAM plants contains large vacuoles in mesophyll cells.
