capital G is the value of the gravitational constant - that is, 6.673 X 10^-11 Nm^2/kg^. This value never changes and will remain constant in any part of the universe

however, g is the acceleration due to gravity, which, on earth, is 9.8m/s2. This value changes from planet to planet, and even from the poles to the equator
