Answer:

Critical appreciation refers to highlighting all the possitive aspects according to the reader himself and explaining as to why he likes them.

For example, you read a poem and you come to a conclusion that you find it beautiful. This is mere ‘appreciation' and not ‘critical appreciation'.

The reader has to point out the peculiarity of the poem, the way that he percieves the message hidden in the poem, the rhyme scheme and patterns, if at all he finds it attractive. This and much more constitutes the critical appreciation of the poem.

A summary on the other hand, is close to rewriting the poem in simple words, decoding the hidden message, and making other readers understand it.

Summary has got nothing to do with further explaination and stating whether the poem is good or bad, failing which, converts it into critical appreciation and vice versa.
