What is the difference between chromoplasts and leucoplasts ??


mehak62: leucoplasts-are colour less and not used for photo synthesis and used to provide colour to starch. chromplasts-are red and yellow and orange pigment . and provide colour to fruits and flower.they also not used for photosynthesis

both are plastid but the difference is chromoplast give colour to fruits and flower but leucoplast is colourless

Luecoplasts a contain colourless pigment and their function is mainly the storage of starch as in the case of potatoes.
Chromoplasts contain colourful pigment of yellow, orange and red colours which impart colours to fruits and flowers.
