Compression= It is a longitudinal wave having high particle desity, high pressure, low volume.
rarefraction is vice versa

hey

•compression and rarefraction are both parts of longitudnal sound waves

•in the compression region particles are very close to each other and they have more density and pressure

•in the rarefraction region particles are very far away from each other , they hav low pressure and low density

• when the longitudnal sound waves vibrate back and forth in parallel or in antiparallel direction of the sound waves then compression and rarefraction occurs
