✨ Cutaneous Respiration :-
- Respiration carried by skin is called cutaneous respiration .
- Skin is large and covers the entire body.
- It's outermost layer of the body is always exposed to air or water to diffuse air or water across the skin .
- Respiration is carried only in single stage.
Ex :- Earthworm, Leech and some amphibians.
✨Pulmonary Respiration :-
- Respiration carried by lungs is called pulmonary respiration .
- Lungs are elastic sac like structures .
- Lungs have several thousands of small chambers called alveoli . Alveoli are supplied with blood vessels .
- Pulmonary respiration is carried in two stages.
- Inspiration
- Expiration
Ex :- Mammals, birds, reptiles and some amphibians .
