Sorry, but ‘was died’ isn’t grammatically correct. ‘has/had died’ is better sounding and also correct in this case.
‘Has died’ is a present perfect tense and ‘had died’ is a past perfect tense of ‘died’ which is a simple past tense. ‘Has died’ would only be used when referring to a recent death and ‘had died’ when referring to a certain time period of someone’s death.
Eg. My uncle has died.
My uncle had died a year ago.
‘Dead’ is an adjective in past perfect tense that describes someone of being in a lifeless state.
Eg: The plants are dead.
‘Died’ is a verb in simple past or past participle tense that shows the action of death. ‘Passed away’ is a more polite way of saying someone died.
Eg: My dog died last week.
