Different is an adjective, while Difference is a noun.

Example:

‘You and I are different in many ways’: Here the word ‘different’ is used to describe the characteristics of two people ie you and me. So here it is an adjective.

Similarly,

‘Today I was attended to by a differentreceptionist. It was not the usual person’: Here too, the word ‘different’ is used to describe a person i.e, not the usual person but someone different. Again, an adjective.
