simple diffusion moves molecules down concentration gradient while active transporttakes them against concentration gradient. Simple diffusion is passive, which means it does not require energy, while active transport does. Simple diffusion happens directly through the cell membrane, while active transport through carrier proteins.

Hii...

Diffusion is a passive transport and occurs along the concentration gradient from region of higher concentration to the region of the substances lower concentration.
Uphill to downhill transport...
It doesnt require the use of ATP.

Active transport occurs against the concentration gradient i.e from lower concentration to higher concentration with he use of ATP .
Downhill to uphill transport.
