In displacement reaction one element from its salt is displaced by a more reactive element.
In double displacement reaction exchange of ions take place between two reactants to form new products.

Hey there !

Displacement reaction is a chemical reaction in which a more reactive metal displaced a less reactive metal from its compound.

It is classified into three types :-
1) Thermal decomposition [ heat energy is used ]
2) Electrolysis [ electricity ]
3) Photochemical decomposition. [ sunlight ]

Examples :-
1) Fe + CuSO₄ ---> FeSO₄ + Cu
Iron being more reactive than copper , displaced copper from its compound , copper sulphate .

2) K + AgNO₃ -----> KNO₃ + Ag
Potassium is more reactive than silver ,
hence its displaced silver from its compound , silver nitrate

-------------------------------------------

Double displacement reactions are the chemical reaction in which exchange of ions take place.
It does not happen on the basis of reactivity.

Examples ;-

1) KI + Pb(NO₃)₂ ----> PbI₂ + KNO₃
Here ,
potassium iodide exchanged its ions with lead nitrate.
potassium iodide became potassium nitrate and lead nitrate became lead iodide.

similarly ,

2) BaCl₂ + Na₂SO₄ ------> BaSO₄ + 2NaCl

Hope this Helps you !!
