n displacement reaction, one element from its salt is displaced by a more reactive element e.g. in following example, Cu is displaced by Zn from CuSO4 because Zn is more reactive. In double displacement reaction, exchange of ions takes place between two reactants to form new products.

Using balanced chemical equation, explain the difference between adisplacement reaction and a double displacement reaction. Answer:Displacement Reaction: One element takes the place of another element in acompound. Double displacement Reaction: Two compounds react by an exchange of ions to form two new compounds.
