displacement reaction : the chemical reaction in which more reactive element displaces less reactive element from it's salt solution.

example : Reaction of iron nails with copper sulphate solution.

Fe (s) + CuSO4 (aq) -----> FeSO4 (aq) + Cu (s)

the iron nail becomes brownish is colour by deposition of Cu and blue colour of CuSO4 changes to dirty green colour due to formation of FeSO5

Zn + CuSO4 + Cu

Zn is more reactive than copper

_______________________________

Double displacement reaction : a reaction in which new compounds are formed by mutual exchange of ions between two compounds.

example : precipitation reaction

Na2SO4 (aq) + BaCL2 (aq) -----> BaSO4 (s) + 2NaCL (aq)

(white precipitate of baSO4 is formed, so it is called precipitation reaction)

☺ Hello mate__ ❤

◾◾here is your answer...

✒DEFINITION OF DISPLACEMENT REACTION::--

In a displacement reaction, a more reactive element replaces a less reactive element from a compound.

i.e. A + BX. -----> AX + B

where A is more reactive than B

Example :-

CuSO4 + Zn --> ZnSO4 + Cu

✒DEFINITION OF DISPLACEMENT REACTION::--

In a double displacement reaction, two atoms or a group of atoms change places to form new compounds.

i.e. AB + CD ---> AC + BD

Example:--

Na2SO4 + BaCl ---> NaSO4 + 2NaCl

I hope, this will help you.
