Distance is the length of the actual path taken by a particle while displacement is the length of the shortest path between the initial and final position of the object.

Distance is a scalar quantity while displacement is a vector quantity.

Distance can never be negative but displacement can be negative.

Distance is either greater than or equal to displacement.
