Scribbling is something people do when writing in a hurry. It is also a kind of activity that children do, making lines which look like they might be writing. Doodling, on the other hand, is drawing - pictorial rather than 'line/alphabetic'. So 'scribble' relates to 'writing' (script) while 'doodle' relates to drawing.
