Drought - a shortage of rainfall
Famine- an acute insufficiency

Famine and drought are two related terms but they are not same. Famine is mostly related to the shortage of food due to the failure to grow a particular crop due to extreme conditions whereas drought is mostly referred as shortage of water at a particular place.

The most common form of drought is the lack of water which results in precipitation.
