Distinguish between the Western Himalaya and Eastern Himalaya

Western Himalaya:

  • The region of Himalaya which extends from river Indus to river Kali, it is called as Western Himalaya.  
  • It is comprised of peak such as Nanga Parbat, Nanda Devi and Badrinath.

  • Its width is 400 km.

  • It covers states such as Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.

Eastern Himalaya:

  • The region of Himalaya which extends from river kali to river Brahmaputra, it is called as Eastern Himalaya.

  • It is comprised of peak such as Everest, Makalu, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri.

  • Its width is 150 km.

  • It covers states such as West Bengal, Sikkim, Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh.
