Electric potential is the voltage at a point in space is the energy required to bring a unit positive charge from infinity to that point.  It is a scalar quantity.  It is denoted by V and its units are Volts, or Joules/Coulomb.

Electric potential is the reason for electricity to flow from higher potential to lower potential.  Electric field exists from a point of higher potential to lower potential.

Electric potential energy of a system of charges is the total energy required to bring all the charges from infinity to their respective locations, in presence of others.  Electric potential energy of two charges q and -q separated by a distance r is equal to   - 1/4πε * q² / r .  It is measured in Joules or Coulomb volts.
