The difference between the two is that the reader infers details that are implied by the text.
An explicit detail is stated in an obvious manner. Any reader reading it is expected to understand it. On the other hand, an implied detail has to be understood within a cultural, social, political and economical context and made sense of by the reader's individual interpretations. For example, stating that she is married is an explicit statement. However, if you say that she has vermilion marked on her forehead requires an understanding of the cultural context of India to understand what this means and form the interpretation. The latter is the case of an implied detail.
