what is the difference between federal and unitary system?


lokeshgmali: FEDERAL GOVT.
central govt. share its powers with varios constituent units of coumntry
central govt. cannot order state govt. to do smth. state govt. has its own powers.
EX- INDIA,USA,CANADA

UNITARY one
either there is only one level of govt. or sub units are subordinate to it
Central govt. can pass on orders to state govt.
EX-UK,CHINA,FRANCE

In a unitary system, the central government has all the power. In a federal system, some powers are given to the central government and other powers are given to the lower levels of government (provinces or states).
