This is a brief introduction on floating and sinking. Floating is well floating, but there is actually something deeper then just making an item go up from water. Same goes for sinking, for each of these they have their own factors such as the buoyant force and also of course the density. Buoyant Force, what a unique term. It means the upward force exerted by a fluid, that opposes the weight of an immersed object. Means the water/fluid that tries to fight against an object that is in the fluid. Like when you are throwing a ball down the water, at first it goes down but because of buoyancy it then jumps up! That is what buoyancy/ buoyant force is in daily life. Buoyancy can both affect sinking and floating it may depend on the weight of the item and the waters density. To make a long story short we will use formulas. Archimedes states that “Any object, wholly or partially immersed in a fluid, is buoyed up by a force equal to the weight of the fluid displaced by the object.” With the formula Buoyancy = weight of displaced fluid. Another formula for buoyancy is: FB= p x V x g
