What is the difference between forest area and forest cover??

The geographical area recorded as forests in government records is forest area. it also reffered to as recorded forest area, forests can be reserved, notified forests or private forests. all land more than one hectare in area with a tree canopy density of more than 10per cent is called forest cover.
