Formal letter is written to Teacher, Editor of newspaper, Police or to any other formal men.... Whereas Informal letter is written to Parents, Brothers-Sisters, Uncle or to a friend.

Formal letter is written to officials. It should be polite.
Formal letter should be brief and have sender's & receiver's full address
