Fragmentation is the splitting up of an organism specifically multicellular into fragments such as in spirogyra

regeneration occurs when an organism gets broken or cut into pieces due to an accident and each piece grows into a complete organism for example in planaria

fragmentation refers to breaking up of a mature organism into tow or more organisms whereas regeneration takes place of an organism gets cut by chance,not in maturation
