Scent, odour, smell, and fragrance are used if you are smelling something. I usually see scent used with pleasant smells, whereas odour would be used with something foul. ... The scent of the perfume was very sweet, but the combination of all of the perfumes in the store created a disgusting odour. Smell is really neutral.
