fusion means to add up..

fission mean to split up...

fusion reactions are those reactions in which two atoms add to give a new atom with a relaese of energy.

fission reactions are those reaction in which an atoms splits or break into two or more atoms with the use of energy..

Fusion: It is the combining of nuclei to form a bigger and heavy nucleus. It releases a lot of energy and is used in nuclear power plants.
Fission: It is the splitting of one nucleus into smaller and lighter nuclei. The energy released in this process is more than fusion and it cannot be used to produce energy in a power plant as it is uncontrollable whereas a fusion reaction can be controlled by the control rods.

Thanks.....
Hope it helps.....
