GENE :-
A gene is a locus (or region) of DNA that encodes a functional RNA or protein product, and is the molecular unit of heredity. The transmission ofgenes to an organism's offspring is the basis of the inheritance of phenotypic traits.


CHROMOSOME :-
Chromosomes are thread-like structures located inside the nucleus of animal and plant cells. Each chromosome is made of protein and a single molecule of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA). Passed from parents to offspring, DNA contains the specific instructions that make each type of living creature unique.

√  Genes are coding regions of the chromosomes. 

√  They code for protein, whereas genomic DNA (or the chromosomes) also contain many non-coding regions, such as gene promoters/ inhibitors, introns and so on.

√ A gene is just a short section of codons (sets of 3 nucleotides) that codes for a protein. The gene is just a small portion of the chromosome, which is a small portion of the total DNA, or genome.

⇒CHROMOSOME :-

√ Chromosome you can say, are condensed form of genetic material. It is the vehicle of transfer of  DNA with genes being the compartments that make up the chromosome. 

√ In the case of humans this includes characteristics like height (though this is also influenced by environment and nutrition), hair colour, eye colour etc. Crhomosomes are arranged in pairs so for most genes there are two copies.
