h2 is hydrogen and h2o is water

H2 is An Element whereas H2o is a Compound.

H2 exists in gaseous state because of its extremely low melting point easily and H2O exists in all three states easily.

Answer:

\mathrm{H}_{2} is the chemical formula of hydrogen gas. Hydrogen gas is formed by the bonding of two hydrogen atoms. It exists in the gaseous state. It is a colorless gas.

\mathrm{H}_{2} \mathrm{O} is the chemical formula for water. The water exists in a liquid state. Water is converted into ice (solid state) under extremely low temperature. Water is formed when one molecule of hydrogen gas combines with same molecule of oxygen gas.
