One example of a homologous series is the straight-chain hydrocarbons, where each one increases by one C:
CH4, CH3CH3, CH3CH2CH3, CH3CH2CH2CH3...
Isomers are CH3CH2CH2CH3 and (CH3)2CHCH3
CH4, CH3CH3, CH3CH2CH3, CH3CH2CH2CH3...
Isomers are CH3CH2CH2CH3 and (CH3)2CHCH3
