Homothallus have a male & female reproductive structures on the same thallus,as in some fungi & algae while heterothallus produce male & female reproductive structures in different structures or plants.

The difference between homothallus and heterothallus is

●Homothallus is derived from 'homo' which means same that is when both male and female reproductive organs present on same thallus or body they are called homothallus.

•the opposite sexual functions are performed by same thallus by different cells of single mycelium.

•eg)Rhizopus

●Heterothallus is a condition when male and female reproductive systems are present on diifferent thallus or mycelium.

Eg)Yeast
