What is the difference between hydrilla and lotus?

1. The flower petals of lotus flower are above the water surface whereas the petals of hydrilla or waterlily are found floating on the surface of water body.  Also the physical structure of the plant are different.  Hydrilla has small leaves whereas the lotus plant has larger leaves.  Hydrilla is a submerged plant where as lotus is a floating plant
