Just remember, lysis = breaking down, a bond is broken in hydrolysis, whereas water is added in hydration. Examples: Hydration is the addition of water to a compound. In organic chemistry, you might find this in the hydrate of an aldehyde. RCHO becomes RCH(OH)2.
