what is the difference between Hydroxide and hydroxyl ?

Hydroxyl” is a neutral molecule; it's usually called a radical because it has an unpaired electron. 

OH is called “hydroxide” when it's in a compound with a metal, such as calcium hydroxide or aluminum hydroxide, and called a “hydroxyl group” or “hydroxy group” in organic compounds such as ethanol
