Intrinsic protein includes those proteins that are embedded within the plasma membrane (fully or partially) of a cell while extrinsic proteins are present on the periphery. Intrinsic protein includes channel proteins while extrinsic proteins are anchoring proteins or can be associated with glycogen to act as receptors.
