Inversely proportional is when the value of one body decreases, the other increases in proportion. For example, the force of attraction between two Pont masses in the universe is Inversely proportional to the square of the distance between them (NEWTON'S LAW OF GRAVITATION)
Directly proportional is when one variable increases or decreases, the other variable increases or decreases in proportion respectively. If I have ten apples, and I eat 5, the number of apples decreases by 5, so it decreases in a ration of one is to one. OR, net force is directly proportional to mass when acceleration is constant (Newton's second law)
